A BRIEF OUTLINE
Nuno felt is the fusion of fibres and fabric through friction; the process of feltmaking is a synergy of painting and sculpting a haptic process whilst blending colour and texture. Felting creates a non- woven construction through which process unique scarves, wraps, neckerchiefs, jackets and tops; throws and fashion accessories can be created. Sumptuous surface design using fine merino, silk and cotton fibres combine silk in a harmonious liaison of colour and texture.
In addition, sculptural pieces: pots, beads, bags and pouches can be constructed by combining all fibres
CONCEPTUAL WORK A METAPHOR FOR SOCIAL DIVERSITY
The Fine and Applied Art of Felt Making –
One definition of Felt making is the matting or binding together of wool fibres to form a dense fabric that is stable and does not fray has no seams or joins; it has the potential to be sumptuously rich and texturally diverse in the same way that society can be. Individual fibres meld, entangle and bind together through friction / relationships. This is a recurring theme in my work and philosophy; the merging of fibres - the Fine and Applied Art of felt making.
